Hyperlinks
In Excel 97, when you set text in a cell as a hyperlink,
the path is shown and not the text underlined as you would expect. Is there an option to turn on/off (which I haven't found yet or is there some other explanation? Ian. |

Hyperlinks
Hi Ian
Right click on the cell and choose the entry for hyperlink once there you can change the link -- pathname / cellname / email & subject the display the mouse over (screen tip) Surprised never know email subject was included, I know how to set up an HTML hyperlink for address, subject, and body but never saw email address & subject mentioned for Excel. Then there is the Worksheet Function =HYPERLINK("http://www.ibm.com","IBM") =HYPERLINK(http://www." & A1, "[x]") More examples on my sheets.htm page. You can't turn off automatic generation of hyperlinks until Excel 2002 where it can be turned off under AutoComplete. You can remove hyperlinks with a macro after they have been created by using a macro, See http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel...#delhyperlinks If you want to see what the hyperlink is for another cell you can use a User Defined Function http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/buildtoc.htm#url i.e. =HyperlinkAddress(A1) =personal.xls!hyperlinkaddress('links sheet'!A2) Also the initial wording is not clear. You indicate either that you see the hyperlink and not the text, or the opposite. And I think it is the opposite that you mean. Keep using the newsgroups and such skills will improve. -- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel [site changed Nov. 2001] My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Ian" wrote ...
