font suddenly disappeared

about half or more of my fonts have disappeared and i believe have been
uninstalled somehow. how can i bring them back or find out what happened to
them, so i can either reinstall them or find them again?

Did you look in the fonts directory? If you some how or another did manage
to uninstall them (not something easily done by accident), you would have to
reinstall them from the disk.

Any chance you've changed your printer or printer driver?

i have looked in the fonts directory and i dont have nearly the number of
fonts that i used to have. what would be some examples as to what i might
have deleted to accidentally unistall them? im trying to retrace my steps and
cant figure out what ive done to make them disappear. and i dont have the
disk, so i will have to find a way to get it again or something. and no i
have not changed my printer, and havent changed the print driver to my
knowledge...

While looking at the fonts directory, try View (menu) and make sure
"Hide Variations" is not selected.

Then under Tools, Folder Options, there is a TrueType Fonts tab, make
sure the box is not checkmarked which would limit you to seeing only the
TrueType fonts available.

okay i have done both of those steps, and nothing is hidden. i now have only
about 50 or so fonts. and i know some of the fonts i used to have include
curlz, elephant, vivace, vivaldi, etc...all of those and more are gone. it
seems that i now just have the basic fonts. i really do appreciate the
suggestions thus far, its giving me more ideas of where to look for the error.
