Default Office 2007 Trial causing problems?

When I brought my laptop new it din't have office installed but it did have
the trial version of office 2007.

I used this for the trial period (60 days I think) and then wanted to
install my copy off office 2003. It would not let me install office 2003.

Now months down the line I have been using open office for a while but I
would like to have office 2003 back. Tried installing 2003 again but it says
I am missing a file (see screen shot) but when I tried it on my brothers
laptop (runs on XP) there was no problems and 2003 installed perfectly.

I have tried unistalling office 2007 but when I press the unistall nothing
happens and I have been unable to unistall it from my system.

On top of this ever since I tried to unistall office 2007 my general system
restore has never worked - not sure how it's affected that.

Am I able just to delete out the entire microsoft office folder from my
program files folder?

It's all very annoying.

You have to remove any trial version first, clear temp files & reboot, prior
to installing from cd
