Anyone else notice Office 2007 is slower starting up?
That is visible when you click on the add-in.

Well IMO there is a real need - it's called wanting to be able to read the full path statement as it extends past the column width... Roady [MVP] wrote: Any reason you want to resize the columns? Silly question, how did WDS3 get installed? Just did a default install
with the Office 2007 DVD. I've got a screen shot and expanded items of the error at: http://www.digitalsmiles.com/searchindexer.doc My PST is under 200MB in size. cheers tom Patrick Schmid wrote: How big is your PST? You might want to reinstall WDS 3. (Uninstall then reinstall). SearchIndexer is WDS 3 and enables Instant Search in Outlook. Are you submitting all crash messages you get to Microsoft? Patrick Schmid -------------- http://pschmid.net "tomax7" wrote in message ups.com: First impressions of Office 2007 is that it is noticably slower in opening up compared to 2003. This on a 2.8GHz w/512MB. Outlook keeps giving me a "SearchIndexer" pop up errors (about 3 of them at a time), and I don't have Adobe Pro installed. Searching Google has suggestions to turn Searchindexer off, but they still show. |

Oh also, Catch-22...can't read the error appcompat.txt file listed
under Local Settings\WEReba4.dir00 as it goes away when one clicks on "CLOSE" button of the popup error window... |

No it is not. Just able to sort. The double arrow for column resize
does not show. Roady [MVP] wrote: That is visible when you click on the add-in. |

I have also noted the sluggishness when launching. Moreover, I quite
frequently receive the following error message when launching Outlook: "The data file 'Maibox - lastname, firstname' was not closed properly. The file is being checked for problems." Obviously, the file checking procedure adds greatly to the already lethargic startup time. I should note that I do, in fact, close Outlook properly each time before shutting down my PC. So, I should not be receiving this error message. The last time I launched Outlook (just a few minutes ago), I received a message that Business Contact Manager was causing problems and asking me if I wanted to disable BCM. I said "yes"; I have no use for BCM and hopefully this might help with the above described issues. Outlook might have prompted you to install it? Or it was installed off
the DVD (I didn't use the DVD, so I don't know). According to the version string in the error message, you definitely have WDS 3 installed. If you go into Add or Remove Programs, you should see Windows Desktop Search there. Remove it, reboot and restart Outlook. It should now complain that you need to install WDS and lead you to the location to download it. If you click on an add-in, the location will be shown below the add-in
list and above the Manage combobox. Patrick Schmid -------------- http://pschmid.net "tomax7" wrote in message ps.com: No it is not. Just able to sort. The double arrow for column resize does not show. Roady [MVP] wrote: That is visible when you click on the add-in. |

I'll admit I didn't look at the system requirements for Outlook.
256MB Ram minimum...EGAD! That's a whole operating system on its own!!! Crap you can run Windows XP Pro on less RAM... I can see this being a downer point in trying to sell Office/Outlook to clients. Talk about a memory hog, for what, cute icons? Like Print Preview, look at the mess to get to it, miss the Toolbar icon... Patrick Schmid wrote: If you look at system requirements, you'll see that Outlook requires 256 MB RAM minimum, but Outlook with BCM requires 512 MB RAM. I'd presume that just having the minimum requirement isn't going to make this beta version very happy. What kinds of hangs did you experience? Patrick Schmid -------------- http://pschmid.net "Marcos Fernando" wrote in message news I notice that after install "Business Contact Manager" outlook turns very, very slow, not only starting up and hangs everytime and everywhere. Then I uninstall BCM and speed is ok now. AthlonXP 2210Mhz(@over) 512 mem. XP SP2 BR "tomax7" wrote: First impressions of Office 2007 is that it is noticably slower in opening up compared to 2003. Ah yes, you are correct, and I noticed it earlier but IMHO this is a
step backwards Maybe I'm missing something, but why do I have to put out the effort of clicking on each stupid line entry to read it below, when something simple as a column resize could be in place, then I can glance at the whole list in one view instead of looking up and down and up and down...? Thought Office was suppose to SPEED me up, not slow me down. Same with Print Preview... Trying to remove WDS from Control Panel - You need to reboot the
computer...not just Outlook. Will post what happens upon reboot... Patrick Schmid wrote: Outlook might have prompted you to install it?
