Default How do you enabled your contacts folder as an address book?

I have Outlook Express as well as MS Outlook. I am using a XP PC.
I have no addresses in my address book for OE and about 500 in my MS
Outlook. Through IE I establish my Default Email program to be MS
Outlook.
I go into Word and create a document then go to File/Send To/Email
Recipioent and when I get my email header I click on my address book
and I see NO addresses. So it's as if I am still attempting call up
the OE address book.

What does this mean - Does it mean you can build a Contact List in Outlook
and this really isn't also the Address Book ?

Please someone help.
Thank you,.

It doesn't appear to be. Have you tried "Show Names from the: Contacts"
instead of "Show Names from the: Outlook Address Book" at the upper right of
the "Select Names" dialog?

Found additional info, if you don't see "Contacts" in the dropdown I
mentioned: Open your contacts folder. Then File Folder Properties for
"Contacts" Outlook Address Book. Check "Show this folder as an e-mail
address book."

IanRoy,

Thank you very much for this research.

I will try this tomorrow.

Watching the Super Bowl right now or I would try it now.

Thanks again.

IanRoy,

It was a longer hal time show so I went to try what you suggested.

I am using Oulook 2000 - I can't find any of the items you are mentioning.

I click on File, but I don't see Folder and thenI can't go any further.

Are you using Outlook 2003 ?

Please let me know.

Thaank you,
Paul

Hi, Paul;

I am using Outlook 2003. However, I have a tutorial for Outlook 2000, and
that shows "Folder" as one of the items in the File menu for the Inbox for
that version. My tutorial doesn't show the file menu for the Contacts folder,
so I am not sure "Folder" is there also, but I would have expected it. If you
are using personalized menus, did you wait for the full menu to appear?

Another way: If right-clicking Contacts in the Outlook Bar desn't give you a
"Properties" option, open the folder list (from the View Menu in Outlook
2000). Then right click the Contacts folder on that list, and choose
Properties. I don't know what you will see when you get there, but that is
where I'd look.

If you are not using Word 2000, you may not get this function to work with
Outlook 2000. I am not sure, but they may have to be the same version/year.

Regards,
Ian.

IanRoy,

I am using Word 2000 and Outlook 2000.
I did right click on Contacts and thenon Properties.
I get the Contacts Properties box and I then click on Outlook Address Book
tab and at the top it says Contacts and there is a check mark in the box next
to the wording:
"Show this folder as the email address book" but the box and check mark is
grayed out.

Any other suggestions as to why I cannot access the address book when I use
th Word program and use Send to Email Recipient function ?

Thanks,
Paul

You are using IMO mode of Outlook which does not even have the capacity to
use the Outlook Address Book.
Restate your problem.

I have followed the directions below, but I still do not have my address
book. It was working okay until I reinstalled XP...probably forgot to do
something, but can someone help me? Thanks so much.
