oh no.... more bad ribbons (like office2007) to come in windows 7????

... You have not been around too long it seems reading what real people are saying about it. I have read all kinds of nonsense about it. So much, in fact, that before I actually installed Office 2007 I was sure I would not like it. But lo and behold, after actually USING it, I like it. Who says that menus that disappear as soon as you choose something is the best way? Choose the wrong item and you have to go back and open the menu again. Need something else from that menu - that's right, you have to open it again. And again. And again. How much time do you think has been wasted opening and re-opening the same menus 50 times a day? Sorry, tabs are an improvement. It's just shocking to see them used this way. After using it for a couple of days you find yourself thinking "why didn't someone think of this before"? Remember, lots of people didn't "get" tabbed browsing either, until they used it for a couple of days. |

... Most people hate the ribbon because it makes using the program slower, more confusing and takes up too much screen space. Rubbish. Put your most frequntly-used commands on the QAT and minimize the ribbon. That actually gives you MORE space then the old menu-style toolbars. |

Im not against tabs as a general design option. The ribbon sucks though ...
Its the implementation thats horrible. I also think that Office2007 should have had an option to revert back to the old menu style, and not wait for a 3rd party to do that *there is an add-on called classic menus for office2007* (shareware) you cannot imagine how many people have thanked me a million times, some even in tears for me telling them of the existance of that add on. Oh yes.. The ribbon is bad.. horrid "Bob Campbell" wrote in message ... "On the Bridge! (An MVP upgrade)" On@the,bridge wrote in message ... STFU! Nah.. I think I will keep using it because Im flexible enough to use any interface, no matter how awkward it is, just because I like to keep myself accustomed with all latest software that MS makes, and at the same time bash each crap thing MS makes. Gesh can you get off my back? you are stalking you know! "Bill Yanaire" wrote in message ... "On the Bridge! (An MVP upgrade)" On@the,bridge wrote in message ... Me promoting ubuntu???? My wife is happy that they have not (yet) implemented the ribbon in Publisher. She is a power user that has just about every possible button bar active, and she uses them all. She did the same for Word. Now she grumbles about having to jump back and forth between ribbon tabs and that the QAT isn't big enough to hold all but buttons that she uses. Brian |

So you personally went and asked most people? I don't think so. Maybe your nurse told you to say that. Now they want to use this horrible concept on more stuff...in windows 7. You are the perfect candidate for Ubuntu. Just your style. You just can't figure out Vista. Very complicated for someone with your tiny pea sized brain. MS still hasnt understood how bad the ribbon design really is! lol... Most first time users didnt even know that the "jewel" was a button!!! MS understands more than you do. That is whey they are a billion dollar company and YOU work for Burger King. They have the nerve to call the better proven way "old"... !? Liar ubuntu is looking better every day MS, keep this up and you will lose big time! Ubuntu is perfect for a douche bag like yourself. Why don't you and Alias go play in the Ubuntu forum So I guess you like the Ribbon, huh? Dude, why don't you try discussing the topic, instead blowing hot air? -- Peace! What design expertise/education/degree(s) (industrial, mechanical, etc) do you have in order for us to have any faith in your opinion about the interface design of Vista/Office 2007? Or is it simply your personal opinion? Tell us. Frank |
