Lost my catagories list when I replaced my laptop
I am using Outlook 2003. When I replaced my laptop recently and had my
computer repair tech install all my files onto the new laptop, I "lost" my Master Catagory List. My Contacts have the original Catagories associated with them individually however when I open one of them up and review the Catagories it shows that the associated catagory is "Not In Master Catagory List". The tech told me that he copied my entire drive into a folder on my new laptop after he imported my data files, but I don't know what to do with that. I don't want to re-create the Master Catagory List because I don't remember all the Catagories I originally created and have used over the last several years. |

Thank you Russ. I will find out if my registry was included in the hard
drive back up. Thanks again!! "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Your Categories were stored in the registry on your old laptop, not the data file. Unless they were backed up, they are gone. Hope it was. Outlook is pretty nasty when it comes to backing up your entire
configuration because it strews its settings in so many places. I wish your technician had known what he or she was doing. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Eve in Oak Hill Florida" wrote in message ... Thank you Russ. You can use Category Manager to easily add all of the assigned categories of your items to the registry. For the download see the link in my signature. -- Best regards Michael Bauer - MVP Outlook : Outlook Categories?
