Default merging from excel to microsoft word

I am trying to merge a list of addresses to a existing letter......the merge
is fine except when I do it...the addresses that contain a zero as the first
digit do not appear.
Is there a way to do this so that the zero will transfer with the merge

I assume that you are talking about the zip code field.
