'Login!default[Read-Only]'
Online College student working on group project, and I received a
presentation from a fellow student. Liked the artwork they used, so i used it for the entire presentation for all four students. Completed the presentation and posted it online, but no one can view the file. When i open the posted document, it says 'Login!default[Read-Only]' in the "top bar or banner area of that window and opens a blank presentation. Why does the completed work not show when opened and is there any way to fix it? |

Providing that all copyright permissions are in place ...
Try copying the presentation to the local hard drive and checking the file attributes before opening. PowerPoint does a lot of touchy-feely stuff with its source file and has little hissy fits if it thinks it can't get to the source file quick nough. --(Think of Bloomberg in The Producers) The Read Only attribute can be assigned from CDs, Networks, Permissions, or even users. You may only be authorized to change that attribute on a local file. -- Bill Dilworth A proud member of the Microsoft PPT MVP Team Users helping fellow users. http://billdilworth.mvps.org -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ vestprog2@ Please read the PowerPoint FAQ pages. yahoo. Thanks for getting back to me Bill.
I will copy and look at the attributes as you suggest. "The Read Only attribute can be assigned from CDs, Networks, Permissions, or even users"... I was thinking that may be the case that the student who's file i used somehow marked the presentation as "final" and that maybe affecting the file... or the actual Phoenix online network site maybe making it read-only....but that should happen with other postings of other file types, right? Or is that just PowerPoint 2007 throwing it's fit. "You may only be authorized to change that attribute on a local file"....worse case, i was thinking i may have to re-type that presentation from the PP07 on my hard drive. Wish me luck. Remember, there are, at last count, 14.73 bazillion ways of posting things online and nearly that many ways of opening them once posted. You're at your computer and can see what you're doing. We're way out here with this mess of wires called the internet between us obstructing the view. You'll need to describe what's going on for us to understand it. If there's a link where the file can be seen, include that too. ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |
