Default Windows Vista Programs Missing

Suddenly I clicked the start button and all my programs are missing. I have
no wy of starting my programs as I delete them from the desktop. What
happened and how can I restore. It almost seems like it happened after I did
the first round of Vista updates. I just did a second round of Vista updates
hoping they had some kind of fix. But no such luck. Help get my start menu
back like the regular windows start bar.

Have you tried starting your Computer in a) Safe Mode or b) by using the
Last known good configuration?

Sorry this is the first time I've had a chance to get back on. No I haven't
tried those methods. How do I do that? Is it pushing the F keys at startup?
