Default News Group problem

My hard drive recently crashed. I installed new one then imported my
Outlook Express Files/Folders to OE6, however, when importing the MSN News
Groups, it put them under a Folder that does not show under AccountsNews.
How can I delete that Folder?

Thanks, Bill

What folder are they in? Can you find it and delete it? If you are using the
same machine, I can see that you apparently have set up the news server as
you are posting using OE. I can also see that you desperately need to go to
Windows Updates.

Bruce,
They are in a Folder named Alltel, other drive was named MSN News. Cannot
find that folder in my OE store location. Unfortunately, had to Recover
this PC with Windows ME so only update I could get from MS is for IE6.

I'm not sure what you are looking for. Newsgroup settings can be Exported
and Imported, but not the newsgroups themselves unless you backed up the
registry. If you didn't, you have to re-subscribe to each newsgroup again.

Have you tried a search and included Hidden Files and Folders? Still not
sure what you are attempting to do here, or what you have already
successfully done.

You still need to go to Windows Update. Your posting headers show:

| X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106

They should show:

| X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1123

That is what I have with current updates on Windows ME here. As you can see
from my posting headers. I broke from my usual habit, and used MSOE instead
of 40tude Dialog for this reply.

I've successfully subscribed to the MSN NG but the old imported one shows up
with a name of Alltel and as stated earlier it does not show under
ToolsAccountsNews thus can't delete it. Registry was not backed up due to
a sudden castrophic failure of my Hard Drive.
Yes I've tried the search you mention, no luck.

Norman, I finally was able to DL/Install about 50 updates for ME but OE is
still showing .......1106????

Also since your using ME maybe you can help with below:

I recently obtained a PC that has of all OSs, WIN ME. Got a couple of
problems/questions need help with:

1. When starting up, it asks for User Name & Password, I can press CANCEL
and it starts okay. Can I get rid of this nuisance?

2. I connect to the NET using DSL. How can I get the Connection Icon (2
little monitors flashing) to
show in lower right of Taskbar like it would for Dial-Up?

You have successfully updated. Dome of the DLL files in the OE program
folder are now 6.00.2800.1438
