Msg: "Drawing Objects...protected" won't save
I'm using an XLS spreadsheet in Excel 2007, and I can't save it in either the
old or new format. the message says "Drawing Objects in one or more sheet(s) in the workbook are protected. Please unprotect them and try to save again. I've selected all the sheets and clicked Unprotect, but I still get this message. Can anyone tell me how to find these objects, and how do I unprotect them? -- Christopher Brewster Lockheed Martin, Eagan MN Message posted via http://www.officekb.com |

You can't protect or unprotect all the sheets at once. You have to unprotect
them individually. I have seen this message caused by an add-in (Hyperion SmartView), which stores information in hidden objects on the sheets. Unprotect each sheet. When you re-protect them, be sure the 'Edit objects' checkbox in the Protect worksheet dialog is checked. Hope this helps, Hutch "christophercbrewster via OfficeKB.com" wrote: I'm using an XLS spreadsheet in Excel 2007, and I can't save it in either the old or new format. the message says "Drawing Objects in one or more sheet(s) in the workbook are protected. Thanks for the response. Uncanny how you knew that Hyperion SmartView is
installed. (I was documenting it-- I'm not in financial planning). Anyway, I was doing the Unprotect step one sheet at a time but something was still getting missed. But since I'm changing over to Office 2007, I saved as the XLS as XLSX and the problem somehow went away. Tom Hutchins wrote: You can't protect or unprotect all the sheets at once.
