Default Count Formula in a Table

I have a table where the user inserts the letter X in the
cell to indicate if they have an item on hand. I want to
insert a formula so that it counts the number of X's the
user has entered.

For example,
Table example:
1. X TV
2. VCR
3. X DVD

COUNT = 2

For the record, I can't use the checkbox control for this
excercise.

Hi Saron,

You can't count non-numerics with a table formula in Word. You could do it
with a bunch of IF statements, provided all of the cells had their contents
bookmarked.

This is, however, very easy to do in Excel, so the best solution might be to
embed an Excel sheet in the Word doc.
