Default help! word 2003: can't open a word document from a mapped drive that's also a web server

This is a head scratcher, I'm hoping somebody can help. I have a
drive mapped to a share on a server that also acts as my local web
server. Whenever I try to open something from that mapped drive Word
2003 opens the default html page for the web server instead of the
document I specified. If I turn the web server off, I get the word
document I expected to retrieve. I've been all over settings and
office online help and can't find what I need to do to stop this from
happening.

Thanks for your help!
