Default a new page in ms word 2002 comes up with a 6" column. Why?

the subject line is the question. this started happening unezpectedly and i
cannot find a setting to change so that i get a new page set up according to
the defaults set in filepage setup. I would appreciate some suggestions
other than to start with a new normal.dot. i have quite a few special
settings in normal.dot. thanks.

If you are using Word's default margin settings, the default margin width is
6". I suspect what you're encountering is that your Blank Document is set to
two columns, one of them being 6" wide? No one seems to know what causes
this, but it is reported quite frequently. The solution in a document is to
go to Format | Columns, click One, and OK. If the probably is occurring in
all new documents, you'll need to make the change in Normal.dot. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...ocNotBlank.htm for instructions on
finding and modifying Normal.dot.
