how can i change the default settings in excel 2003?

Default how can i change the default settings in excel 2003?

i would like to alter the fixed column width that happens every time i update
a pivot table to autofit - does anyone know how to?
i would also like to remove autoscale when i produce charts and alter the
background graph colour from grey to white
any ideas?
