Hello,
Don't think it is possible in Outlook Express. You will need to reattach the edited document back in the forwarded mail __ http://www.bootstrike.com/ComputerService/ Singapore Computer Home Remote On-Site Repair Service "Jeyabalaprabhu" wrote in message news Hai, From outlook express how to forward the attachment (excel, word) mails after edit without saving to otherlocation in hard disk. Always save attachments to the hard disk before editing.
When you open an attachment, the file is placed in Temporary Internet files. Any edits will not save to that location. -- Ron Sommer "Jeyabalaprabhu" wrote in message news Hai, From outlook express how to forward the attachment (excel, word) mails after edit without saving to otherlocation in hard disk. I don't think you can, unless Word's mail feature will allow it. Anyway, it's very bad form to not keep a copy of the changed document for a period of time to ensure it won't be needed in a rebuild. Also if it's not on disk and you get the tiniest memory glitch, the whole file with its changes can disappear. |

You cannot add such an attachment to another email without having first
saved it to your HDD. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 Jeyabalaprabhu wrote: From outlook express how to forward the attachment (excel, word) mails after edit without saving to other location in hard disk. |

Can't be done that way.
You cannot alter an attachment in a received message. If you forward an attachment, it will forward the original received attachment. What you need to do is edit the file and save to a known location. Then start the forward. Select the attachment in the message and REMOVE it. Then attach the edited file. And then send the message. After the message has been successfully sent, you may delete the edited file. You will have a copy of the edited file in the Sent Items folder. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Jeyabalaprabhu" wrote in message news Hai, From outlook express how to forward the attachment (excel, word) mails after edit without saving to otherlocation in hard disk. This statement is not worded correctly.
The problem is that you can alter an attachment, but you have to use Save As to save to a known location. -- Ron Sommer "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ... You cannot alter an attachment in a received message. snipped |

Perhaps my emphasis was not clear,
You cannot alter an attachment *** IN *** a received message. You can certainly save an attachment that you received and alter that (or open the attachment) and save an altered version somewhere else.). But the copy of the attachment IN the received message does not get altered. Many users fail to realize that. They open an attachment from within the message alter it and save it. Then they go back to the message later and find the changes are not there, or try to forward it and find the altered version does not get forwarded. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Ron Sommer" wrote in message ... Yes, thought FWIW the modified file does sit in a temporary folder, so can
be retrieved if one has forgotten to save to disc. I suppose if one shuts the computer down then it's gone. There is slight chance that the updated attachment is still in the IE
Temporary Internet Files (TIF). . For that to be the case, you must have closed the OE message Before you last saved the updates. Whether or not you shutdown the PC doesn't make any difference unless you've installed some utility that clears the TIF on restart. Any attachments, if they are still there, will Not show if you look at the TIF from IE or the Windows Explorer normally. You will be able to see them if you use Start, Run and enter the command %userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ or C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ where XXXX is the Windows user. This assumes that you have not moved the TIF. You can check the actual location by looking in IE at Tools, Internet Options, General, Temporary Internet Files, Settings. The \Content.IE5\ at the end is import or else you won't be able to see all the files. You should see 4 folders with names such as A1B2C3D4. You'll need to look in each folder for the missing files. The Search function won't work. An alternate access method is to open a Command Prompt window and use "DOS" commands to locate and copy the file elsewhere. If you start at the folder above the TIF and use the command DIR /A /S *.DOC it will indicate if the file is still there. You'll need to use a COPY command to copy the file elsewhere. This will be cumbersome because of the peculiar folder names. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Dori A Schmetterling" wrote in message ...
