Hotmail Accounts Due To Get Disconnected?
Are the hotmail accounts due to get disconnected? I can not access
a hotmail account today, where yesterday I could. The approrpiate information presented in the OE POP3 log: Outlook Express 6.00.2900.3138 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.070514-1324) POP3 Log started at 07/20/2009 08:18:49 Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'jcarlock', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F I tried a couple of the other settings to see if they changed something along those lines, and the hotmail access via OE HTTP works for another account. So either the hotmail POP3 servers went down (on purpose or some kind of accident) or I missed out on a Microsoft communique? It looks like Microsoft does not keep as many records on their NNTP servers, too. Thank you for any comments. -- Jim Carlock Small World Talk http://www.microcosmotalk.com/ |

Hotmail Accounts Due To Get Disconnected?
Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you are using OL and OE
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514 Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no additional protection, it may be causing the problem, and even Symantec says it's not necessary: QP Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have the most recent virus definitions. /QP http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...02111812533106 Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 Jim Carlock wrote: Are the hotmail accounts due to get disconnected? Hotmail Accounts Due To Get Disconnected?

: Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you are : using OL and OE : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514 Thanks PA. It stopped working for two of the SSL POP3 connections, but the HTTP Hotmail account worked, but failed to receive any email this morning. I find that very odd, but not quite impossible, as that HTTP Hotmail account gets quite a few posts each day as it's subscribed to an ISC.org news list whereby it gets all the posts that go to a DNS news group. A new message existed at one of the SSL POP3 connectors, but OE failed to download the post. Maybe someone from Microsoft will confirm that they had some sort of server problems this morning? For a few hours their servers would not deliver any mail to me. Finally, later on I received a proper error from their servers as I started fiddling with the settings to see if they went fully SSL. If Microsoft does not confirm that something went wrong with their servers this morning, I'm not looking anywhere else, and they get the blame, even if someone brought down their servers via clever hacking. Either way they get the blame, whether they did it or someone else did it. Someone sent some messages to me early this morning and I did NOT receive any of them at all through the Hotmail HTTP. And one email I received this morning... did not get to me until after noon E.S.T. Thanks PA Bear! The second link seems to concur with my own opinions! http://windowslivehelp.com/community...28.aspx#320228 -- Jim Carlock : Jim Carlock wrote: : Are the hotmail accounts due to get disconnected?
