cross reference headers not all appearing in dialog

Default cross reference headers not all appearing in dialog

using word 2002 sp3

created document using provded stylers for headers but when i try to insert
the cross references i need, the list of availble headers is a small % of the
headers in the document. what am i doing wrong?

Assuming you're referring to headings rather than headers, note that Word
lists only those paragraphs formatted with the built-in heading styles.

If you need to cross-reference headings that are not built-in, you can
manually insert bookmarks and then use
InsertReferenceCross-Reference to create your cross-references.
