Default Difficulty in editing block diagram

I have a MS Word document, wherein the previous Technical Writer
created a process flow for a process using Visio 2000, I have the same
version.

There have been some changes to the process. So I need to change
somethings in the process flow diagrams. For instance, I will need to
change the server address in one of the blocks. Also I will need to
delete and insert blocks at many places. When I try to do this directly
from Word, by double clicking the block diagram, I do get a Visio
graph. But it has a border around it. So if I were to add new blocks,
they go out of focus. Though they still are visible in the graphical
area, if any block exceeds that green colored border, it is not visible
after I withdraw out of the Visio chart.

Also, I can select individual blocks, but I face difficulties typing or
editing the text in it. Whatever shape a block might be ,the area where
in I can type the text is rectangular. Is this normal? Also if I edit
any text, the look of the diagram changes. The font size might reduce
or increase. This is very unpredictable. It's driving me nuts.

Also, is this the best way to edit a visio diagram, directly from the
Word document? I even tried right-clicking on the diagram, and selected
Visio objectEdit. This opens up a Visio window, wherein something very
queer happens. Though there is an original visio graph, the flow
diagram opens up in a secondary graph within the original graph. I face
the same problems adding new blocks as well as with the look of the
diagram, as described above.

I hope this makes sense and someone can help me out since I don't have
much time.......SOS!

the good news is that the diagram was inserted as a visio object so that you
can edit it. Working through an OLE interface can be a little tough so it
might be easier to open the original visio document in visio and get it done
there and then reinsert into the word document.
