Default fix size of text area in a form

I am trying to create a form whereby certain areas of the form are fixed to
only accommodate a certain amount of text. Any ideas

Insert a table. Set the table's AutoFit setting to Fixed Column Width. Then
go into the Table Properties dialog, go to the Row tab of the dialog, and
set the row height to an "Exactly" value.

The way you get to each of these settings depends on whether you have Word
2007 or an earlier version.
