keep getting password request
I have tried to set up a second computer in our house with it's own e mail
address. I have checked with our server and everything is right as far as set up goes. They say it is a software problem and to ask microsoft. Whenever I try and send an e mail it asks for the password. If you enter it all you get is the same request again. Even so I have managed to receive messages. Why on sending does it ask for password? I have tried everything. We have tried to get this e mail properly online for months. Is it a software problem? All the configuration is right in 'Accounts' -- Benen157 |

keep getting password request
Define "it's own e mail address", please. How does this address (account)
differ from the one on the other computer? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Vashti wrote: I have tried to set up a second computer in our house with it's own e mail address. keep getting password request
I had a friend who has this problem - may not be yours of course
After hours of frustration it turned out to be a malware or virus that disables the windows remember password function It is a keylogging virus that tries to get you to punch in the password so it can record the keystokes Sorry cant remember the virus name - and not all antivirus software will detect it I will post back if i remeber the virus name Bob "Vashti" wrote in message ... keep getting password request
If the ISP uses SMTP authentication, your mail program must log in to
the mail server in order to send. This is a spam control measure. In OE this is specified in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers, Outgoing Mail Server, My Server Requires Authentication. If the Incoming Mail Server Account Name and Password above this are not for your ISP mail account, click the Settings button and fill your ISP settings there. If you set up a new e-mail address with your existing ISP, how you configure things for the new account depends on how the ISP supports multiple e-mail addresses. Some give you an additional server POP3 account, others feed the multiple e-mail addresses into a single account. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Vashti" wrote in message ...
