excel 2003 - saving workspace as a .xlw file - excel shuts down
Often but not always, when saving a number of files to a workspace (.xlw)
file, get error message 'Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close'. When this happens, it closes and automatically deletes any previous xlw file. When it re-opens and recovers the files, if I try again to save workspace the same message appears and Excel closes as before. This doesn't seem to happen with just a couple of files, but anything from around 8 upwards, and file size doesn't matter (no reason why it should, the xlw file is just a record of links to actual files isn't it?) The only temporary workround seems to be to close all of the files down and re-open them individually, then save workspace, but htis doesn't work every time - the same problem comes up. Re-starting the PC doesn't make any difference either. |
