need a custom action to MOVE sent items
Have you found a soultion to the question of how to mark as read when moved
in 2003? "Roady [MVP]" wrote: No, that action doesn't exist for Outlook 2007 either. Note that the rule is for messages being send and not being received. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more ----- "Roman Brehm (MSP)" wrote in message ... In Outlook 2007 the action "mark it as read" exists. Is this new with Outlook 2007? Roman Brehm "Roady [MVP]" t wrote in message ... Because "mark it as read" isn't an option. If I've got some time left I hope to update the article with a solution for that by the end of the month. Hello, are you sure? Why not extending the rule to: "Check messages after sending" - (no further conditions) - actions: "move a copy to the specified folder" & "mark it as read" Roman Brehm "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ... need a custom action to MOVE sent items - terrybizerbaus
there seems to be now solution for "mark as read".
I found a software add-in from Sperry Software, that pretends to do this (for about 30$, but didn't test it yet. Generally, the big trouble with Outlook is, that it handles mail in two different categories: SENT and RECEIVED. Other email programs have wonderful filtering possibilities (the old Eudora 7, Thunderbird, etc.), and it's because they DO NOT separate mails in those two classes (send and received). In those programms, you can set up a filtering rule for ALL mails (received, sent, or being in any other folder), so that it is very simple to keep all mails that you send or receive e.g. from a certain person, in one single folder, just by saying: "move all mails with the keyword "john doe" to the folder "john doe". In fact, I was an Eudora user for many years, but was forced to change to Outlook because of bussiness standards and because mobile phones do not syncronise with something else but Outlook. Otherwise, I am not happy about the sometimes very cumbersome Outlook, that does everything like an old bureaucrat, instead of being simple and user-friendly. Outlook can do a lot of things, but, my god, it's SO complicated to learn how! from Vienna, Horia terrybizerbaus wrote: need a custom action to MOVE sent items 03-Sep-08 Have you found a soultion to the question of how to mark as read when moved in 2003? need a custom action to MOVE sent items - terrybizerbaus
Outlook has a setting that saves sent messages in the folder with the
original if its not in the Inbox. So... if you move messages from Joe to a folder called Friends then reply to it, outlook can put the sent item in the Friends folder. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you keep Outlook open 24/7? outlook add-in (sperry software) for sorting sent emails
I tested the add-in from sperry-software - it does the job, but it is a bit complicated and not always user-friendly. It could be perfected considerably in it's usability.
Otherwise, it is the only one on the planet, that does this job! horia m wrote: need a custom action to MOVE sent items - terrybizerbaus 24-Sep-09 there seems to be now solution for "mark as read".
