Reduce size of wav files
To email a PowerPoint slide show with music only wav files may be used and
when I convert an mp3 to wav it usually is about 25mb in size. While I can get PowerPoint to accept a wav file up to 50mb, my server won't accept that large a file. When I receive a PowerPoint show with music the music is always less than 500kb so there is some way to create a small wav file. When I compress a 25mb wav in XP it ends up at about 23mb which is still too big. Do you know how I can get it down to an acceptable size? Reduce size of wav files
Stan;
You may want to consider resampling your wav file using Windows Sound Recorder (sndrec32.exe). There used to be a tutorial around explaining the steps and recommended settings. I just can't put my hands on it right now. -- Michael Koerner MS MVP - PowerPoint "Stan" wrote in message ... Reduce size of wav files
Michael,
If you do ever find that tutorial I would like to see it. Meanwhile, how would I "resample" as you suggested. I am not sufficiently versed in such techniques. Reduce size of wav files
this is off the top of my head, but it is pretty close to the way that the
tutorial went. Click the Start button Click All Programs Click Accessories Click Entertainment Click Windows Sound Recorder Click File, Open Select the wav file you want to edit. Click On properties and look under Audio Format and it will indicate the current file setting. In the Choose From drop down window select Playback Formats Click Convert Now leave the format at the default PCM the select an attribute around the 11.025 KHZ, 4bit stereo and select OK. Listen to you conversion and if it sounds okay, save your file with a new filename and then insert it into your presentation. -- Michael Koerner MS MVP - PowerPoint "Stan" wrote in message ... Reduce size of wav files
Michael,
How did you remember all those steps! You are something else. There was no 4 bit option so I used 8 bit and it worked perfectly. Thank You most sincerely. This is a great help.
