do desktop support...have a user with a Ppoint presentation that has 359
slides in it. File opens and runs just fine but he likes/needs to use the slide sorter mode when reshuffling the deck of slides to customize the presentation to suit the class/topic at hand. When selecting slide sorter mode the slides come up blank with...those that have a text title will dispaly that but no images appear at all. In normal mode the slides display the images therein. Have tried adjusting the zoom to be 66%-50-33-25% makes no difference. Can give you this much info: Dell D610 latitude laptop, 1 gig of ram, vidoe drivers have been updated...1st thing done. Office 2003 sp2 to version 11.8110.8107 on XP pro with SP2. |

If you switch to B/W view while in, say, Slide Sorter view, switch back to normal view and click Close B/W View, the sorter and other views can get out of synch. Try this: Switch to sorter view Choose View, Color/Grayscale, Pure Black and White When the Grayscale view toolbar appears, click Close Black & White View. Does that put a little color in your user's life? ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |

Let me elaborate more on what he sees. When going to slide sorter mode powerpoint displays a screen of slides of 4 rows, 5 per row. Zoom is set at 66% by default when switching. The slides consist of a completely blank (white) background surrounded by a black border (all 4 sides)...will display text at the top if exists. So no image makes it to the slides whether in color, black/white, or varying shades of gray...nothing, nope, nada.... Dave |

That's the first thought I had, so I went haring off after it and slammed right into a wall. The two-A tool's nowhere to be found while in Sorter view and changing it in Outline view had no effect on sorter view. I can't get the outline toolbar to show in Sorter mode either (this in both 2000 and 2003). But if you customize the "double-a" tool from the Outlining toolbar onto a toolbar that's visible in Sorter view, we achieve Bingo. Clicking it turns the formatting on/off in Sorter view. And if you save the presentation with slide sorter formatting off, it stays in that state when you reopen the presentation. And if you open it on a computer w/o the customized button, you've no way of changing it that I can find. ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |

Actually, I think John Wilson's nailed the problem in his reply to your original post.
