2003 Pack and Go
I created an autorun CD using the Pack and Go function.
Even though I get this warning... "One or more of your presentations contain macros, linked programs, linked objects, or embedded objects. They will not work in the PowerPoint Viewer. Do you want to continue. ....it appears as if everything on the final CD works. I've tested this by placing the CD in my CD drive and clicking on the CD. I can see that it's launching the PowerPoint viewer. I have links in my presentation to .pdf files and I have videos playing in the .pps show. I originally inserted the videos by the "insert movies or sounds" function. My question is ============== Even though I got the warning, everything in my presentation seems to be working fine. However, I want to make sure that it will work fine on a computer with only the PowerPoint viewer and not the full-blown version of PowerPoint. Could it be that if it works on my computer, all of the links will not work on another computer that only has the PowerPoint viewer on the CD? I don't have a computer without the full-blown version of PowerPoint to test this on and I want to be sure it will work before I have 900 copies burned to CD. |

I recommend that you test it on *several* systems. Uninstall PowerPoint if
you have to. Burning 900 CD's "in the blind" is not a wise thing. Besides, if Microsoft says that there is something in the presentation that won't work, I'd want to know what it is. By the way, will all 900 systems have Acrobat Reader installed? If not then the PDF's will fail. -- Sonia, MS PowerPoint MVP Team Autorun CD software, templates, and tutorials http://www.soniacoleman.com/ "Sue" wrote in message ... I've tested this by placing the CD in my CD drive and
clicking on the CD. Ah, but that's not really testing. If the links point to C:\Your Folder\On\Your Drive\whatever.pdf then as long as those files are still there, the links will work. When you move the whole thing to another computer, one that doesn't have a C:\Your Folder\On\Your Drive\ folder, much less a copy of whatever.pdf in it, it'll fail. You need to test on a different PC, ideally. -- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ Featured Presenter, PowerPoint Live 2004 October 10-13, San Diego, CA www.PowerPointLive.com ================================================ |
