for example; on a diploma the word diploma or the university name at the very
top is usually arched or curved across the page as opposed to a straight
line. how can i do that?

I made my dad a fake diploma for Christmas this past year and did exactly
that with WordArt. (He tells everyone he graduated from Boston College. No
clue why BC but that's his story. He now has a semi-authentic looking
diploma granting him a BA in BS from BC. Bovine Scatology, ya know.)
