Default Wall Dimensions Change

I'm not very experienced with Visio so my probem probably has a simple
answer. I am using the wall shapes to lay out a simple rectangle. One wall is
10 feet long. When I join this wall to another wall, the size of the wall
decreases by the width of the wall I'm joining to. I have disabled the snap
and grid, thinking that this would prevent this from happening. I want the
wall to butt up against the 10 foot wall at a corner. But it seems that Visio
wants this to be represented by a 45 degree miter joint and changes the
length accordingly. Can someone tell me how to get around this? Thanks In
Advance.

I am also "fit-to-be-tied" with the same problem that Larry has. Even through
I turn off Glue and then Snap, Vision wants to glue walls together, change
their lengths, and prevent ungluing. It's maddening! I am trying to enter the
basic walls of a building footprint from a detailed architect's drawing. I
drag a wall into the workarea, right-click it, and then select Properties
where I type in the length and width (e.g., 27 ft. 4 in. and 24 in. for
width) of a wall section. This seems straightforward. But then when I try to
join with another wall all sorts of untoward things happen! Can anyone help
us with a basic approach.
