Default Outlook 2007--Mail Format Font issue

I have set my Mail format font to be Comic Sans, Bold Font Type, 10pt; but
when I start a new email, the email format is Comic Sans, Regular Font Type,
10pt.

Can anyone explain what the problem might be? I have gone through about
every menu to find a check box that might cause this, but I have not been
able to find anything applicable.

Do I just need to reinstall the software? I have another font issue with
emails that come in as plain text and for some reason, my reply has the
correct font, but there is a white underline included in the font that almost
obliterates letters that go below the line.

I'm ready to reinstall the software and start over with the settings unless
someone can help with this annoying issue. Does that make sense?

Bob
