Default Unusually large file

Hello,

I have a workbook that is over 500kb but only contains
about 17kb of text data. When I cut and paste out the
text data the file size remains about the same.

When I delete the sheet after cutting out the text data I
receive the warning that there may be data on the sheet
although none is visible. After deleting the sheet the
file size is reduced by the ~500kb.
Can data be hidden from view? There are no hidden rows
or columns.

Am I missing something.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
