error 0x800ccc92 (Windows XP) Outlook 2003
Recent reinstall of Windows XP , and Office (including Outlook 2003) on my
desktop- and now cannot get the Outlook to receive emails, it returns error msg 0x800ccc92 (running the same passwords/ports/settings on a laptop (XP/OL2003) works fine) Error occurs on desktop regardless of firewall/antivirus software presence or operation. Have tried reinstalling Windows and Office and Outlook several times including all applicable service packs... tried changing ports/settings in Outlook ... tried changing Windows & Programs & Documents/Settings away from Read Only (suggested on another forum) ... (Outlook Express IS installed on this machine) suggestions? thank you, Stir |

no, sometimes it says there is a 'syntax error' (and that error code/#).
(currently the computer is unavailable to me to recheck the error codes) I took the computer to a techie who was unable to resolve the issue, however, he typed in the same smtp/pop3/password/account settings into his Outlook (2007) and could not access the email account (he got a variety of error messages). He also noticed that "test" messages sent by the program went through, but composed messages did not (we checked this by accessing the account via webmail). on a laptop here at home (WinXP/2003) we were able to set up the account and download/send email. currently the OS & Outlook is being loaded onto a new harddrive (fresh install) and see if can access (everyone needs another harddrive right?), but I'll be calling the company that provides the email again (godaddy/secureserver.net). stir |

Uninstall your Anti Virus and or Security Suite and re-install them without the email integration(email scanning )

Hi Peter-
the hd did not have an anti-virus program installed on it (the problem occurred in the absence of a security/anti virus program). (we did a fresh install on a new hard drive, and it is working-have no idea why it didn't work for the techie on his system) thanks for the reply, stir |
