Default Jerky or slow animations in PowerPoint 2007

We are using slides created in PowerPoint - XP in PP2007 and some animations
are really slow and when you increase the speed they become jerky. It does
not seem to matter which machine is running them and as soon as you return to
PP-2002 they run fine.

Some examples would be:
- a fade in of a text box at medium speed is super slow in 2007 but works
fine in 2002.
- bulleted text with a thread animation - the first line comes in really
slowly and each subsequent line comes in faster and faster. This does not
happen in 2002 where they come in one after another at the same speed.

Any ideas out there?

This did not change anything for us. The strange thing is that the slide
plays fine from the animation preview box fine but when you are in
presentation mode the animations play slowly or jerky (not a smooth fade in).

Default Jerky or slow animations in PowerPoint 2007

Hi Sharon

So neither turning on/off 'use hardware graphics acceleration' in the set up
show dialogue box nor playing with the settings in your OS helped? How about
animations that are created in 2007 - are they jerky? Does it look better on
a second run through the show (without closing PowerPoint)?

Default Jerky or slow animations in PowerPoint 2007

I am also having this exact same problem. A PowerPoint slide show made in any
version prior to 2007 is hitching all over the place during animation when
viewed in 2007 via the "Slide Show | From Beginning" button. When viewed with
the "Animations | Preview" button, they are smooth as silk.

Even though I knew it wouldn't do anything, I tried that Hardware
Acceleration "tip", but that only succeeded in making the desktop very
sluggish. I tend to do things on this machine that make PowerPoints video
card useage basically nothing. I also checked to make sure the "Use hardware
graphics acceleration" was unchecked in the Slide Show Settings and it was
indeed unchecked.

I stumbled on this thread when searching for this exact issue when my father
called me with the problem on his machine and I duplicated it on mine.

Can't see how to just edit my above, so here's a continuance.

I tried it with that hardware acceleration checkbox checked and not, same
result. I even dropped the resolution down to 640x480 to give PP2007 the best
chance and still hitching in show mode, but still beautiful in Preview mode.

I have duplicated this on my desktop as well as my work laptop.
