Default Outlook 2003: annoying line wrap when quoting

I'm trying to figure out a consistent way to get even quoting when
responding to all e-mails. Text/plain mail defaults to quoting like
this:
This is the first line of text which wraps
here and
then you get another longer line that may
wrap
with a single orphaned line like that.

I frequently manually re-wrap that text to something more pleasant
like this:
This is the first line of text which wraps
here and then you get another longer line
that may wrap with a single orphaned line
like that.

And I try to keep the lines short so that a quote of my quote doesn't
turn into this:
This is the first line of text which

wraps
here and then you get another

longer line
that may wrap with a single orphaned

line
like that.

Every e-mail client is different and everyone has different settings,
so we will always get mail with CRLF's embedded differently, but isn't
there a plug-in for Outlook somewhere that will take quoted text,
especially nested quotes, and wrap/quote it more intelligently, or
more accurately - create more readable quotes from any given text?
Should I write one?

Thanks!
Tony

(First and only bump)

No one has any comments on this? Is this an annoyance for anyone
else?

I understand and share the frustration but have been hunting for a solution since Outlook 97. If there is one it's classified Top Secret.

The PC community should start a Community Chest fund that pays rewards for solutions to such things. One day I will put my fist through a display or start slinging equipment. The Windows interface can get me to that point just from the illogical actions, inconsisyent behaviours, complex manuevers that put a mile & 8 clicks on the mouse that should be a single click, 1000 control type things that SHOULD be in the Control Panel. Microsoft is very inconsistent. They either "leave it that way 'cos people are used to it" or "change for change' sake" like in XP where nearly everyone changes back to classic mode anyway.

I need a new line of work...

for "America's Most Wanted - " or like the FBI, "PC Top TenThere should be an Org offering rewards for these maddening problems

Diane, that's exactly what I was looking for, from someone else who
obviously understands my frustration. I've downloaded
Outlook-QuoteFix and will certainly send a donation if this does the
job without messing other things up.

Thank you SOOOO much!!
Tony

BTW: Saw your book on the shelf in Borders again yesterday, it's nice
to see familiar names...

Thanks.... It's even nicer to learn its in bookstores - one of the two in
this area doesn't have any of my books.
