Default tabbing of bulleted/numbered lists

In microsoft word, when you pressed tab on a bulleted/numbered list it used
to change the format of your numbers/bullets and indent them to make a
sublist...

-1. main point
*a. subpoint
*b. subpoint
-2. second main point

it doesn't do this anymore and it is a very convenient feature.

It still works this way provided you have the correct settings. Since you
don't say what version you have, I can't tell you what those settings are.
