Outlook Rule To Filter Spam From Yourself
I am getting spam from organizations where they are putting my email
address in the sender's field. I do not want to delete these with an Outlook Rule because I regulary bcc: myself on my email so that I can easily save my emails that I send out to various groups. How do I set up an Outlook Rule in Outlook 2002 to delete the spam from these spoofers who use my own address? Thanks |

Err your sent emails get saved automatically in the Sent Items folder. Why would you bcc yourself? -- Asking a question? In addition to what Gordon said;
Rules are a very inefficient way to fight spam. While you can create certain rules to filter out the most obvious junk, it is still recommended to use a Junk Email filter these days. There are various 3rd party addins available for this (free and commercial) and a Junk Email Filter is included in Outlook since Outlook 2003. As an alternative you could see if your ISP is offering a Junk Email Filter at server level which you can enable via your account's web based interface if you do not want to install anything extra on your machine. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "quirkyjoe" wrote in message ... Outlook Rule To Filter Spam From Yourself
Gordon,
Since the only option is to place a copy of the Sent Message in the Sent Items or do not save a message to that folder. You cannot select which individual message, you want to keep. I do the same thing, there are some messages that I do send that I don't need a copy of. Such as: 1. News Article or Internet photo, I think a friend may be interested in. Using the "Send to Mail Receipient" function. 2. A short note to someone. 3. A message I forwarded, that I do not a duplicate of. I prefer not having to go through the Sent Items folder, later, to clean out messages I do not really need to keep. -- Add MS to your News Reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com Rich/rerat (RRR News) message rule Previous Text Snipped to Save Bandwidth When Appropriate "Gordon" wrote in message ... quirkyjoe wrote: I do not want to delete these with an Outlook Rule because I regulary bcc: myself on my email so that I can easily save my emails that I send out to various groups. If using Word as you rmail editor, click OptionsOptions and check the box marked "Save sent messages to". if using the Outlook editor, click ViewOptions. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
