Default Office XP (2002) on Windows 7 Home, then upgrade to Office 2007

I want to buy a laptop Sony Vaio VPCF11S1E with Windows 7 Home premium
(64-bit) and trial Office.
As I have Office XP Pro (2002) installed on my previous Dell (OEM), I would
like to know if I can install this Office XP on the Sony, running on Windows
7 Home.
And then buy and install UPGRADE version of Office Standard 2007

Please advice

You would need to uninstall any Trial together with Activation Assistant,
reboot prior to installing any paid for version.
Its not neccessary to install the earlier version product, you simply need
the old Office cd available, when your upgrade installation complains.

I may be reading you wrong when you say "XP Pro" then later "Dell (OEM.)"
If the Office XP Pro is an OEM version it is forever tied to the original
computer, the Dell. To find out if it is OEM, either look at the activation
key sticker supplied with the Office program or start one of the programs
and then click Help, About and read the EULA or even possibly look at the
product key listed. If it says OEM after the first 5 characters and the
first hyphen it is an OEM version.

If it is a retail version then it can be transferred to the new computer.
It may even be able to be used on both computers (by the same person)
according to the license EULA if it is retail.
