Default Changing the Normal template

I have Office 2007 on my new Windows 7 OS. When going through Help to learn
how to modify the Normal template, the instructions only tell you what to do
for Vista and XP OS.

How do you modify and save a new Normal.dot template?

Default Changing the Normal template

First, since you're using Word 2007, it will be Normal.dotm, not Normal.dot.
Second, the instructions for Vista should also work for Windows 7.

Default Modifying Normal.dotm template on Windows 7 machine

On a Windows 7 machine, the only file to appear in the list is NormalEmail.dotm. So it's not the same. The normal.dotm isn't in the list of available templates.

Default Modifying Normal.dotm template on Windows 7 machine

If you've used Word 2007 at least once, Normal.dotm exists on your computer.
It might be in a system/hidden folder, in which case you would need to set
your folder options to display such files.

In Word 2007, press Ctrl+O. In the upper left part of the Open dialog box,
do you have a left panel where it says Microsoft Word, and under that, it
says Templates? If so, Normal.dotm should be in that Templates folder.
