Default Markers on the ruler

In Publisher 2000, whenever I placed a picture or text box, there were small
black lines just inside the rulers that moved with the picture or text box,
showing me the exact placement. I now have Publisher 2003, and it doesn't
seem to have this feature. I'm hoping that it is available, but I just
haven't figured out how to "turn it on" yet.

Do you see a white bar on the edge of
each ruler that matches the size of the image?

I just did today when I was working on this. But it's so faint, I could
barely see it. That's why I haven't seen it before now. Is there anyway to
make it easier to see?
Thanks!

I think it changes according to your Windows colour scheme. Try
fiddling round with the colours in there and seeing what helps.

Do you know exactly what you need to change in the "Advance Appearance
Settings"? There are so many things listed that I don't know which to change
to acheive more contrast in the section next to the ruler.
I have Publisher 2007 and am really frustrated that I can't see the
boundaries of my drawings on the ruler any more. I read this post and went
back to my publication and noticed a very tiny sliver next to the ruler where
it shows the 'white bar', but the area on either side is very, very light
blue and I cannot tell the difference.
