Default ActiveSync and Outlook

I get the following problem when trying to synchronize Outlook Items

Message is

"Synchronization cannot start because this desktop computer cannot access
necessary information. ..."

I've tried detect and repair but to no avail.

Is it because I have outlook and exchange on the same machine? I know there
were issues in the past do they still exist?

Sorry for the cross post but I am not sure whether the problem is ActiveSync
or Outlook or Exchange.

Thanks for any assistance

Shaun

Yes, issues still exist with Outlook and Exchange on the same machine. I
don't know if it's the cause of the error, but I have them installed on
different machines and have never seen the error.

Hi,
From the ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide
http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/active...tion%20Errors: :
"If you see the error "Microsoft Outlook Synchronization - Synchronization
could not start because this desktop computer could not access necessary
information. Restart this desktop computer and synchronize again. If this
persists reopen Outlook, click on help then run detect and repair.
Synchronization cannot start because you cannot log on to the network, and
access information, restart your desktop and synch again. If problems
persist, contact your network administrator." in Outlook 2000. You need to
reconfigure Outlook. See Microsoft Article Q276563
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q276563 for
details."
