Default How to kill off the Outlook Address Book

"Misapprehended?" Your question remains patently unclear. The To: button
invokes the Outlook Address Book, which is and always has been the only
portal to the electronic addresses contained within your Contacts Folder.
Seems to suffice for everyone else. Explain why it does not for you. You can
easily set the address book view to open to your Contacts Folder using the
instruction I posted.

I think you need to re-read my posts. I have dutifully double-check
my work to ensure I am following the instructions to the letter. I
believe you have misapprehended what I am hoping to accomplish. At
this point, I'm afraid we're at a standstill. It looks like I cannot
bring up the Contacts folder when I click the TO icon in New Email. I
shall have to suffer along with bringing up the address book instead.

Not easy.
Your instructions say to find another post with instructions, which
takes me to a KB article telling how to enable oab service, which I
did; then to right-click properties show this folder as address
book, which I did;

I ASKED HOW TO CHANGE what the TO icon invokes. I don't like the
goddam friggin oab with its teeny little list that partially shows
names and cannot be configured to show which address of several. I
don't give a RAT'S A$$ if it's "good enough for everybody else."

And as for invoking Contacts folder instead of address book, when it's
impossible, you say, to invoke Contacts instead of address book ...
well, that's a conundrum, wouldn't you agree?

I bet you tell your kids "just because everybody else is doing it
doesn't mean you should ... if everybody else jumped off a cliff,
would you do that too?"

And BTW, instructions and explanations that work for ONE person do not
necessarily work for another, chiefly because DIFFERENT PEOPLE HAVE
DIFFERENT LEARNING STYLES, or did you miss out on that someplace?

Try re-reading your ever-so-clear instructions:

Then just follow the many posts here that tell you how to configure
the
Outlook Address Book. Once you do that, it is simple to configure the
address book view to show your Contacts Folder by default in Tools
Options
"Show this Address list first"

Brian, When I click the TO icon -- I get a blank Address Book. I
don't want Address book at all. I want the Contacts to open.

I did right-click on my Contacts folder Outlook Address Book ...
the option to "Show this folder as an email address book" is grayed
out.

Good advice. "Just find another post."
PS: As I've said before, I CANNOT FIND Tools Options Show this
Address list First
And your second piece of advice? "Reread the first piece of advice."

BTW, what follows is the first piece of advice. Clear as mud. And
the KB article doesn't help because my OAB is already configured like
that.

Thank you, Gordon, for the clear answer. I guess I can't have what I
would like. Oh well. :-)

I also posted a link to the instructions you need to follow. You appear to
need more help than a newsgroup can provide.

Thank you, Brian. Your advice is always clear. I've verified that my
settings are as you described. It still brings up the address book
from the TO icon. Apparently there's no other option for brining up
the Contacts folder from the TO icon instead.
