I lost the coding to prove microsoft office 2000 is mine! help

I have an old copy of microsoft office 2000. It got corrupted, so I
uninstalled it then reinstalled it. Somehow between the first installation
and the second, the magic coding I have to type in to prove it is mine
hascome off the casing. What do I do now? I can't use programs until I type
this in.

yourself a favor and go out and purchase Office. Office 2000 has no more support and
no more anything and that includes downloads of SP's and updates. It is a dead
Office version where you are not able to get anything for it because of the
agreement between the DOJ,SUN with Microsoft on their Java issue

First of all the code on the case was not for Office but for your OS.
Where do you get that idea from? Have you never seen an Office 2000 CD case? The product key was placed on a sticker on the outside
of the back of the case.

And, as discussed in the other thread in the NG on this issue to which you contributed, most updates are still available. See, for

updates individually is a huge task.

Sorry, I left Office 2000 5 or 6 years ago.

Hi Frederick,

If your copy of Word pre-dates SR1, you would need to install the SR1a update (no longer available from MS). If you've already got
an SR1 or SP2 copy, or you've installed the SR1a update, you'll then need to install SP3 update and any of the applicable periodic
updates that MS issued after that.
