Default Custom Views in Excel 97/2000/XP

Dear,

Since we had edited a file a month ago, (when it still worked) we get errors in Excel and Excel closes.
This problem only occurs with one Excel-sheet.
There are 2 Custom Views within the file, and none of the two works. Creating a new custom view, gives the same error and Excel closes.

We have tried it on Excel 97, 2000 en 2002, but this doesn't work.

Is there anyone who has seen this problem before, or can anyone give me a hint to solve this problem. Perhaps there are some settings we need to do...

I can't attach the file, because it's important information.

Please help us ....

Just some thoughts.
(I'm in xl97)

When you last edited the file...
did you protect sheet
after hiding some rows / columns, etc
which were previously visible in the custom views?

If you did, then you'll probably hit the error:
"Some view settings could not be applied"
when you activate the custom view

Tried hiding a sheet with custom views,
then protecting workbook
Tried activating the custom views (for the hidden sheet)
- nothing happened (due to workbook protection)
but there was no error message

I couldn't replicate Excel closing with error
(not even with deleting some columns/rows
visible in earlier saved custom views, then activating
these custom views)

Maybe consider experimenting:

Copy over the "problem" sheet to a new book save.
Then open and try creating the custom views save

If the views work in the new book,
try copying this problem sheet back
to a *back-up copy* of the original book,
and recreate the same views...
