Can't remove page numbers

Bump.

This is very important...it's for a book my grandfather is working on.

Please help!

What have you tried? If the page numbers were inserted using Insert | Page
Numbers, see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...lyIndented.htm
for tips on removing them completely.

If they were inserted using the Insert Page Number button in the header or
footer, then View | Header and Footer and delete them. If there is more than
one section in the book and the sections are unlinked (Same as Previous/Link
to Previous is not enabled), you may have to skip through several
headers/footers to complete the job.

If the book was prepared by someone who didn't know how to insert automatic
page numbers, there's a good chance they were typed on the pages manually,
in which case you'll have to go through every page and delete them manually.
