Default Mailbox overlimit

I keep getting messages saying that my mailbox is over 8000kb. I am taking classes and Outlook is our "classrooms" I have some of my past class material saved in a separate folder. Is there any way that I can save them on a disk or somewhere on my computer because I really didn't want to delete them? What does synchronize mean?

You say "Outlook" but this is an Outlook Express group and despite the names
and appearance the two programs work quite differently, so first can you
clarify whether you are using "Outlook" which is part of Microsoft Office or
Outlook Express which we usually call OE.

The error message you are seeing is coming from your mail server most
likely, and if so that limit is set by whoever gave you your email address,
it seems like your email client whichever it is is downloading your messages
(because you are obviously getting them) but failing to delete them from the
server.

Now, ignore this for Outlook but IF we are talking about OE then on the main
OE window go to toolsaccountsclick on the mail tab.

Now double click the account name shown there and when the properties sheet
comes up click on the advanced tab.

If the box called "Leave a copy of message on server" is checked uncheck it
unless you have some reason for doing that (Like you also read them from
another machine at home etc). That might just clear up the problem.
Whatever, apply that setting by hitting okay all the way back out again. If
you need that box checked because you also read from another machine then
you must set a "Delete after so many days" value otherwise the server will
eventually fill up, which is what it sounds like it might be doing. 8
Megabytes isn't very big though and there's another problem.

In this reply I've messed up your email address by adding invalid at the end
of it. This is because spammers use software to scan newsgroups like this
one for valid email addresses, and in a very short while you will start
getting LOTS of junk mail if you use a real email address. While you are in
the accounts properties pages click on news, double click on this news
account and stick .invalid on the end of your email address instead of what
it really is... it may be too late now but you will know for next time.

I have made some assumptions here so feel free to wait for someone else's
opinion, and this is also something your email service provider should be
able to help you with. If you want to pursue thing further here please state
which of the two programs you are using for mail and if you know them what
your server settings are.

Hope this helps,

Charlie
