Restoring old emails and accounts on new OS
Hi,
My old XP packed in, but luckily had a back up on another drive. How do I move all the emails and accounts from one OE to the new OE as I can still access the old drive and in the process of trying to get the old XP up and working. Thanks |

Account settings are kept in the Registry.
You can File, Import, Messages, OE 6, select other store directory, browse to the old store folder. -- Ron Sommer "Smiffie72" wrote in message ... Thanks but wouldn't know where to look for my old folder. And I can't get
into my old documents folder if they are there, says access denied! Did have a password on my account login, would that be why? "Ron Sommer" wrote: Account settings are kept in the Registry. Unless you move the store folder, the default location is C:\Documents and
Settings\userid\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{long string of numbers and letters}\Microsoft\Outlook Express . The OE store folder files are marked as hidden. You must enable viewing of hidden files. I am not sure on how to access pass worded file. -- Ron Sommer "Smiffie72" wrote in message ... Thanks but wouldn't know where to look for my old folder. Importing OE Data (all DBX files, including Folders.dbx)
http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#importOE5 I'm afraid you'll have to recreate all of your accounts manually, though. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 Smiffie72 wrote: My old XP packed in, but luckily had a back up on another drive.
