How do I deactivate my Office 2003 to reinstall on another PC?
I have purchased Office 2003 and want to take it off one PC and install on
another. Microsoft wont allow the product to be registered twice, so how do I deactivate from my current PC? Thanks Julian |

How do I deactivate my Office 2003 to reinstall on another PC?
Hi Julian,
There isn't a 'deactivation' featuere. If you have a retail copy of MS Office and are having difficulty activating it on another computer you can use the telephone activation method. If you have an 'OEM' copy of Microsoft Office (intended to be preinstalled on new computers and sold by MS only to PC suppliers, not to the public) then it's licensed to the machine and isn't generally transferable. ============ "JulianZ" wrote in message ... How do I deactivate my Office 2003 to reinstall on another PC?
I have 2 new computers sitting here and accidently installed a Basic Edition
of Office 2003 on the wrong computer AND activated it before I realized what I did. How do I correct that error? Just uninstall it and install on the new machine. If you receive an
activation error then you can activate by phone. Joe "Denise" wrote in message ... How do I deactivate my Office 2003 to reinstall on another PC?
Thank you for responding. I just read another thread that says if it's OEM
software, you're out of luck. This is an OEM version of Office 2003 Basic Edition. Do you think there is a way to override my error? (I'm new with an IT company and the computers are going to 2 different clients!) It seemed like a simple responsibility! Denise "Joe Grover" wrote: Just uninstall it and install on the new machine. You can try to reinstall it and use the telephone activation option but
there's no guarantee that will work. -- JoAnn Paules Microsoft MVP - Publisher How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 "Denise" wrote in message ... Thank you for responding.
