Default Default File Format

Access 2003 is installed with the default file format set to "Access 2000" format for compatibility reasons. Once everyone in our organization is on Access 2003, should this value be changed to "Access 2002 -2003" format? If so, is there a registry key that we can set or run the CMW to change it? I do not see anything in the CMW.

Default Default File Format

HI Lorraine,

Change the default file format
Open a Microsoft Access file (Microsoft Access file: An Access database or
Access project file. An Access database stores database objects and data in
an .mdb file. A project file doesn't contain data and is used to connect to
a Microsoft SQL Server database.) if you don't have one open already.
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Advanced tab.

Under Default File Format, click the Access file format you want.
A file in Access 2000 file format can be opened in Access 2000 or later.
You can open a file in Access 2002 - 2003 format only in Access 2002 or
later.

It's late, CMW?

To change the default database format; Tools / Options / Advanced tab / Dropdown box on the right side.

As far as changing formats, I personally shift between 2000, 2002, and 2003 all the time, so I leave everything in 2000 format for
flexibility.
