Cannot Close Outlook 2007. it keeps recovering info and restarting
Hi,
I installed Windows Update KB980248 and updated the Bluetooth device driver three days ago. But since then I found I could not close Outlook. Every time I clicked close on top right corner, the main window closed but the outlook icon on the tray did not go away. Instead, it gave out a dialog saying 'Outlook stopped working', and then another dialog 'Outlook is trying to recover your information', followed by a dialog 'Outlook is restarting'. Then it restarted and the full window came back. I have been using Outlook 2007 for more than 2 years and it runs very well until three days ago. I tried to fix it myself and searched many websites. I tried to disable some add-ins in Outlook, like 'Kaspersky Anti-virus', 'Kaspersky Anti-Spam' and 'Send to Bluetooth' as said on those websites. But this doesn't work. Outlook 2007 still crashes on exit and recovers and then restarts. I tried to get help on Microsoft website and tried to get help from a support professional. The website asked for software name, version and product ID. I was very sure I typed the correct product ID but the system always said 'please type it in the correct format'. I then selected the option to get Product ID automatically, but it never succeed. Could anybody give some help or where I can find a solution to this problem? Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. My computer's configuration is as follows: OS: Windows Vista Home Basic SP2 32bit Office: Microsoft Office 2007 (I don't know the detailed edition, because I bought it from our university software center for a very cheap price) |

That update appears to be required to install Office 2010, since you don't
have 2010 try uninstalling the update. Assuming you have run Office Diagnostics, Outlook failing to close is usually as a result of third party add-ins. Disabling an add-in doesn't necessarily cure the problem If you uninstall the update, run Diagnostics and its still the same, start Outlook using the safe switch and see if the problem is replicated StartRun outlook.exe /safe (note space between exe /) "carlven" wrote in message news Hi, I installed Windows Update KB980248 and updated the Bluetooth device driver three days ago.
