Excel Chart auto data highlighting anomaly....
Hi,
Over the years I have created many excel charts. Sometimes I will just select the data range, and then click the chart button; sometimes I just start with the chart button. Some of my charts have what I call AUTO HIGHLIGHTING. When I click a blank area in the chart (line charts, embedded in the sheet), the X & Y data ranges are automatically highlighted in blue and magenta. If I click on one highlighted column and drag to expand the range, the other automatically follows. I have many other charts, created the same way, that do not exhibit this behavior. On these, I can only get the data to highlight if I click on the actual DATA SERIES LINE in the chart. However, if I drag to expand the selection, the other highlighted column(s) do not follow. Does anyone know how to make these charts follow the AUTO HIGHLIGHTING as mentioned above? I have searched but cannot figure out the differences. Thanks much, Mark |

Excel Chart auto data highlighting anomaly....
Hi,
I figured it out. If the data in columns is not in a certain order, then the AUTO Highlight & Drag to select thingies do not work. Data must be X axis data -- Y Axis data. So for example, my X axis data must be in Column A and y axis data in column B. If they are reversed, it does not do the auto highlight and drag for multiple columns. Thanks very much self, Mark "Mrpush" wrote: Hi, Over the years I have created many excel charts.
